Staples Australia has picked up two Australian Business Awards for “Best New Product’ and ‘Best Eco Product” for  its Staples-branded 100% Recycled A4 Copy Paper and Staples Carbon Neutral 20% Recycled Copy Paper.

“The awards recognise Staples Australia’s achievements in developing recycled content products to meet the growing demands of consumers,” Nick Severino, vice-president merchandising, Staples Australia/NZ, said.

“Staples Carbon Neutral 20% Recycled Copy Paper has been a previous winner in both the ‘Product Innovation’ and ‘Best New Product’ categories, and we are thrilled to have continued this success again in 2015. Our recent win is evidence that we value continuous improvement and innovation in the sustainability space – this being the driving force behind the addition of 20% post-consumer recycled content to the product,” he said.

“Our second award-winning paper this year, Staples 100% Recycled, is new to the market and has been developed to meet the needs of our customers. Consumers are demanding Australian-made products that have a focus on sustainability. Staples acknowledge this and believe in the importance of providing Australian-made paper to support not only sustainable business practices but also our own Australian economy and local employment too,” Severino added.

Craig Dunn, national manager sustainability, communication and  marketing at Australian Paper commented: “Australian Paper recently completed building a $90 million wastepaper recycling plant at the Maryvale Mill in Victoria; a production facility which is unique in Australia. We are proud to manufacture these award-winning recycled papers for our strategic partner Staples, right here in Australia.

“Australian Paper’s new state-of-the-art recycling plant is diverting up to 80,000 tonnes of wastepaper from our local landfills each year. Staples’ strong ongoing support for locally-made recycled paper is greatly appreciated by the almost 6000 Australians whose jobs are dependent on sustainable, local paper manufacturing,” Dunn said.
